The head of the UN humanitarian affairs office, Martin Griffiths, called for an urgent end to the war in the Gaza Strip, DPA reported.
“Every day this war takes more and more civilian victims. Every second it lasts sows the seeds of a future deeply marred by this relentless conflict,” Griffiths said today in New York.
“As I and many others have said repeatedly, the end of this war is long overdue,” he added.
For Palestinians in Gaza, the past six months have “brought death, devastation and now the imminent prospect of a shameful and man-made famine,” the humanitarian chief said, BTA reports.
“For people affected by the ongoing horror of the October 7 attacks, it has been six months of grief and anguish,” he added.
“Rarely has there been such global outrage from the victims of conflict, that so little seems to have been done to end it and instead (we see) so much impunity,” said the Briton, who holds the UN’s top humanitarian post. .
