For several years, the small world of cosmology has been agitated by a very lively debate: what is the true measure of the speed of expansion of the universe, called the Hubble constant? The problem of the value of this fundamental parameter is so acute that some are wondering whether the standard model should not be completely revised, although it described the evolution of the big bang universe so well until today.
The fact that the universe is expanding has been a fact since the American astronomer Edwin Hubble measured in the 1920s that the farther away a galaxy was, the faster it was moving away from us.
