The energy strategy, if adopted, will be the document that will provide the general framework for the development of Bulgarian energy. This was said by the chairman of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR), Ivan Ivanov, during the Forum “Sustainable and efficient energy system for a stable and secure economy”, which is being held today in Sofia. According to him, in the Energy Strategy currently being developed, the consumption of electricity in the country should be given a fundamental place.
The Chairman of KEVR noted that there should be three main elements in an energy strategy. The first is to expand the production of renewable energy in the country and create conditions so that this accelerated development is not deliberately hindered. The second is the construction of the energy storage systems, and the third is the development of the electricity network in the country.
Regarding the overproduction from renewable energy sources, this problem will largely be solved with energy storage systems, Ivan Ivanov pointed out. There are systems that are on a small scale and are related to satisfying own consumption. In Germany, for example, there are 1 million such energy storage systems, with 500,000 built in 2023, Ivanov pointed out. This allows the energy user not to be continuously connected to the grid, but to be able to use the stored energy. This concept makes the system decentralized and reduces network losses, writes BTA.
