The envelope planned by the authorities, of 120 billion dirhams (around 11 billion euros), should benefit 4.2 million inhabitants over a period of five years, the royal cabinet said in a press release.

The program focuses in particular on the “rehousing of affected people, reconstruction of housing and rehabilitation of infrastructure”, specifies the text, published at the end of a meeting chaired by King Mohammed VI. It must also allow the “opening up and upgrading of territories” and encourage ” the economic activity “ of these largely disadvantaged regions.

Since September 8, survivors have been relocated to camps where they live with the help of the authorities and volunteers. The number of homeless people resulting from the earthquake is not known.
