An event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the tragic events of January 20, 1990 – the Day of National Mourning, was held in the conference hall of the Azerbaijan Composers Union, Day.Az reports.
The Chairman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan, Corresponding Member of ANAS, People’s Artist, Professor Frangiz Alizade, who opened the event with an opening speech, provided information about the crime committed against civilians in Baku on January 20, 1990
Doctor of Philosophy in the field of art history, Professor Leyla Guliyeva made a report “On Azer Rzayev’s symphony “Baku – 90””, Honored Cultural Worker, Doctor of Philosophy Saadat Takhmirazgizi made a report “The Theme of Martyrs in the Works of Azerbaijani Composers”.
At the end of the event, a DVD recording of the “Baku-90” symphony by composer, People’s Artist Azer Rzayev, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the January 20 tragedy, was presented. A new composition by Sevda Mammadli, “Memories”, a piece for piano (2021) performed by the author, was also presented.
