Aravindan, ex-militant
Aravindhan, a former militant from Vavuniya, says he has been receiving repeated threats after he told BBC Tamil that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was no longer alive.
He had made this comment by saying that he fought till the end with Prabhakaran in the final battle of Mullivaikal.
He held a media conference today (February 18, 2023) in Vavuniya mentioning that he has been receiving threats after this interview.
The head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Velupillai Prabhakaran, said that the head of the World Tamil Federation, Phala Nedumaran, held a media conference in Tamil Nadu on the 13th.
This idea became a talking point among Tamils all over the world.
In this situation, BBC Tamil asked Aravindan, a fighter who fought with Prabhakaran from the field in the final moments of the war, whether the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam Velupillai Prabhakaran is still alive.

Aravindan had said that he was involved in the final phase of the Mullivaikal conflict only till May 17, 2009.
“The bitter truth we want to tell everyone is that there is no brother,” Aurobindo had said that day.
Aurobindo’s statement became a massive talking point throughout the world.
In this situation, Aravindan held a media conference and said today (18) that he was being threatened after his comment to the BBC that Velupillai Prabhakaran was not alive.

“There is a situation where I have been under threat for a few days, including today and yesterday. Instead of Mr. Nedumaran’s comment, ‘Annan is coming’, I had given the BBC his opinion that ‘Brother is not there’. Following this, some media asked for comments. Then came a threat from the diaspora and from Inbaraza, who might be the head of the rehabilitated LTTE here.
He has expressed some comments to me that I am working with the army, working with Karuna and betraying the militants by standing at Vattuwakal. They also posted some Facebook posts based on it. I need not concern myself with them. I have to speak the truth.
Even now I say, if they bring Dwarka, Charles, or Anni, Annan, or Balachandra and place them before me, I am even ready to commit suicide (for the opinion expressed). We are the real ones who have to say this. When our brother says no, it can cause us a lot of pain and agony,” Aravindan said.

The rehabilitated leader of the Tamil Liberation Tigers of Tamil Nadu, Kandasamy Inparasa, told BBC Tamil that he did not threaten Aravindan under any circumstances.
“We are not threatening. “Brother, why did you do this,” he says, asking ex-militant Aravindan over the phone.
He explained that he was emotional and angry and that he did not threaten.
He says that when he made a phone call and inquired about the incident, there was a difference of opinion between him and Aravindan.

Prabhakaran is definitely alive, rehabilitated LTTE chief Kandasamy Inparasa told BBC Tamil.
“He is alive. The reason is that the Sri Lankan government did not show his dead body to the 12,000 militants. Therefore, the belief that he exists has come. It must be said that the Government of India and the Government of Sri Lanka have not lifted the ban on the LTTE till today, and that is one of the reasons why Annan is alive. We are telling the truth. Even if our national leader comes alive, he will not come armed. He is going to come with democratic foreign mediation. The United Nations is going to approve it. We are going to get the right of self-determination for our Tamil people in the North and the East in a democratic way,” said Kandaswamy Inparasa.
