China’s Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing has launched a three-month exhibition of prehistoric jade from the Yangtze River Basin, Radio China reported.

The exhibition covers an area of ​​about 800 square meters and includes 305 pieces or sets of jade, including 32 first-class cultural relics. The exhibition consists of four sections, chronologically showing how prehistoric jade originated, developed and flourished in the Yangtze River Basin.

The Yangtze River is an important cradle of Chinese civilization, and jade is one of the most representative elements of Chinese culture. Since the 1930s, many prehistoric jade objects have been found along the Yangtze River.

“More than 90 percent of these artifacts were found along the Yangtze River, with almost half of the exhibits coming from archaeological institutions in such provincial regions as Chongqing, Hunan, Anhui and Zhejiang,” said Xia Huogen, associate research librarian at the Chinese Museum. of the three gorges.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until October 27 this year.
