The explosion took place at the “Gazpromneftj-ONPZ” oil refinery, media 112 reports.
The area of the fire is 1000 square meters, according to the “Baza” channel of “Telegram”.
Videos showing burning and smoke have been posted online.
After these news appeared, the web publication “Om1.ru” published a comment from the Omsk plant.
It said that “the fire at the Omsk oil refinery is under control” and that “the refinery’s automatic safety system has detected ignition of process equipment.”
Authorities report two injured factory workers.
So far, there is no news about the causes of the incident and the extent of the damage.
“Gazpromneftj-ONPZ” is the largest oil refinery in Russia. About 22 million tons of oil are reportedly processed that year.
Since the beginning of 2024, Ukraine has been regularly striking oil refineries with drones in the European part of Russia.
It is more than 2000 kilometers from Omsk to the border with Ukraine.
So far, there is no evidence that the explosion at the oil refinery could have anything to do with a drone attack or sabotage.
