An extraordinary board meeting was held in the settlement (Video)

The representative body of Vajta village held an extraordinary board meeting. As the mayor of the settlement, György Térmeg, told our question, it is extraordinary because the occasion is not taking place at the usual time and agenda. Among the items on the agenda were, among others, the question of joining the Bursa Hungarica Higher Education Local Government Scholarship application, the creation of the order regarding the entitlement of Social firewood, or the adoption of the definition of the settlement’s school district, according to which the settlement of Vajta still belongs to the Cecei Primary School, but the Cecei also the kindergarten manager’s request, which concerned the employment of an extra person. The board had a quorum in the listed agenda items and was able to make a decision.

The agenda item that seemed to be the most important and was discussed the longest, which was third in the list of tasks, was the question of the local post office. Mária Bús was present on behalf of Magyar Posta, who, at the mayor’s request, explained the possibilities along which a local entrepreneur could run the postal service in the small village. As is well known, the service provider has terminated the postal service in settlements with less than 1,500 inhabitants, or according to the official wording, it is “changing its mode of operation”, but no matter how it is called, this decision poses a serious challenge to small settlements. The mayor said that despite the fact that Magyar Posta would not have to pay rent or utilities, the service operating in its previous form would cease. The representative of the service provider outlined the options and service alternatives at length, which was not an undivided success among the participating population and representatives. In the end, the board asked for a week of thinking time before giving an answer on the difficult topic, but if there is no local entrepreneur who would take on the task, the only solution will be the mobile mail service. The issue of delivery will not be affected by the changes, emphasized the post office employee.
