Barcelona is looking to pump huge sums of money into its treasury by concluding a new sponsorship deal that could put it on par with its rival Real Madrid.
The Catalan newspaper “Sport” reported that Barca hopes to reach an agreement with the American company “Nike”, which is responsible for producing its team’s shirts and equipment.
Barcelona currently receives 105 million euros from the American company, but is negotiating to raise the value of sponsorship by about 15 million annually.
If the two parties reach an agreement on this value, Barcelona will receive 120 million euros, on par with Real Madrid, which receives this amount from the German company Adidas.
According to the report, Real Madrid is the club that generates the most revenue from shirt sponsorship, with 200 million euros.
After a period of disagreement between the two parties, Barcelona and Nike are close to reaching a new agreement on renewing the sponsorship contract for a higher fee.
