The Israeli quad wheelchair tennis team (high degree of disability) won the silver medal today (Saturday) at the world championships being held in Portugal. Israel lost in the final to the strong Dutch team. The quad team included Noam Gershoni, Eli Hayut and Yossi Saadon from Beit HaLohm Tel Aviv and Guy Sassoon from Ilan Spivak Ramat Gan. The coach is Ofri Lankri.

After four consecutive victories, Noam Gershoni and Guy Sassoon were defeated in the final match against the Dutch team, which ranked first in the championship. Gershoni was defeated by 23-year-old Sam Schroeder, ranked second in the world, with a score of 6:4, 6:1. Guy Sassoon was defeated in the second match with the result 6:2, 6:2 by the 18-year-old Nils Vink, ranked first in the world.
