Ofek Ashkenazi, 29, from Kiryat Motzkin, a prison inmate in the Sharon, stabbed and wounded an IPS officer with an improvised knife while he was in her prison office last Thursday, after receiving permission to make a phone call at the office, Walla News reported. 28 months imprisonment.

The incident began when, at the end of the phone call, he attacked the officer, grabbed her head and began stabbing her. Wardens rushed to the scene to rescue the officer from the prisoner’s hands and after a confrontation between the parties, the guards managed to take over the prisoner and handcuff him.

According to a Walla News report, during the confrontation the inmate threw the knife out the window and threatened the guards: “Do not mess with me, you do not know me”. After the takeover, medical crews provided the officer with medical care and evacuated her to a hospital.

Ashkenazi, who is serving a 28-month prison sentence, was brought to court for an extension of his detention, at the end of which he was transferred to detention for six days. The investigation into the incident continues.
