The Tripartite Task Force between the African Union, the European Union and the United Nations on the situation of migrants and refugees in Libya affirmed in Brussels its support for the efforts of the Libyan government to ensure improved migration management, border management while promoting full respect for the human rights of refugees and migrants and access to protection.

The statement of the tripartite task force, during its meeting in Brussels, called on the Libyan authorities to issue documents to migrant workers, and to recognize the documents provided to refugees, until the establishment of a comprehensive national system for managing migration, in addition to supporting voluntary humanitarian return from Libya, and strengthening mechanisms for providing humanitarian corridors, resettlement, reintegration and return. voluntarily, according to the statement.

The meeting was attended by the African Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Minata Samit Sissouma, the European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, and the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, Antonio Vitorino.
