/ There are only two days left until the start of the Asian Championship scheduled in Qatar the day after tomorrow, Friday, and the eyes of Iraqis are eagerly awaiting Doha, the Qatari capital that will host the Asian Cup finals for national teams.

In this regard, Agency conducted an inventory of the goals scored by Iraq in all the editions in which it participated.

In the first edition in which Iraq participated in 1972 in Thailand, the Iraqi team scored one goal, which was the lowest scoring percentage for Iraq.

In the 1976 edition, Iraq scored 3 goals, in the 1996 edition, the Iraqi national team scored 6 goals, in the 2000 edition, it scored 5 goals, in the 2004 edition, Iraq scored 6 goals, and in the 2007 edition, it scored 7 goals.

While Iraq scored only three goals in the 2011 edition, in the 2015 edition held in Jordan, the Iraqi national team scored the highest percentage of goals during its Asian participations, which reached 8 goals, and in the last edition in 2019, the Iraqi national team scored 6 goals.

The Iraqi national football team advanced five places in the latest international ranking conducted before the start of the Asian Championship, to occupy the sixty-third place globally and the seventh place in the Arab world, after the Spaniard Jesus Casas took over the task of coaching the team on November 6, 2022.
