A woman accuses youtuber and streamer Jaoued Daouki, known by the pseudonym “TheKairi78” on social networks, of having drugged her without her knowledge before raping her at her home. The alleged victim filed a complaint last Sunday at the 14th arrondissement police station, and the Paris prosecutor’s office immediately opened an investigation and seized the 1st district of the Paris judicial police.
The facts date back to the night from Saturday to Sunday, after Jaoued Daouki partied with an acquaintance on the “rooftop” of the Peninsula, a luxury hotel located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower.
After an alcoholic evening, the youtubeur would have accompanied the woman on the road to her home, where she lost consciousness. She thinks she was drugged without her knowledge, using a product poured into her glass, before being raped.
Contacted by Le Parisien, Jaoued Daouki, he disputes these accusations and says he is “very surprised” at the announcement of this complaint. He denies having drugged the young woman, but admits having had a sexual relationship with the latter, which he considers to have consented. “We both had several drinks,” testifies TheKairi78, who assures us that the young woman in her company “was in the west”, and had vomited several times under the influence of alcohol.
A videographer known for unusual content
Already pinned in the past on social networks for his romantic relationship – consented – with a 16-year-old girl, when he was over 30 years old, Jaoued Daouki says he is ready for any “confrontation” with the police. . “There were witnesses, I frequent this hotel very often,” he adds.
Active on YouTube for more than ten years, TheKairi78 has become known for his unusual videos of him enjoying tacos and hamburgers in the company of a friend of his, in front of the camera. His channel, to date, has more than 3.8 million subscribers, and nearly 1.5 billion views.
He recently branched off to the Twitch platform, where he organizes “streams”, that is to say live recordings, of video games, for 1.8 million subscribers. Three days ago, the 35-year-old videographer filmed himself playing “Only Up”, a platform game that has become popular in the industry, in front of more than 100,000 Internet users.
This complaint against TheKairi78 adds to a long list of denunciations of sexist and sexual violence in the world of youtubers, often grouped under the hashtag #BalancetonYoutubeur. Before that, the videographers Norman Thavaud or Léo Grasset have also been targeted by accusations of rape, accusations which they dispute.
