Riyadh: In Saudi Arabia, four people were arrested for filming an obscene video clip and spreading it through social media. Riyadh police took action. A young expatriate woman, a Nigerian youth and two Saudi nationals were arrested in the incident.

The Saudi Department of Public Security informed that the reason for the action was the filming of scenes that are not in accordance with public culture and spread through social media. After interrogating those arrested, the case has been handed over to the public prosecution.

Saudi Customs says alcohol should not be sold in duty free shops

RIYADH: Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority will not allow the sale of alcohol in duty free shops operating at airports and other border gates in Saudi Arabia. The authority clarified this in response to a question raised on its Twitter handle.

The authority added that the decision is in accordance with the rules and requirements for setting up duty free shops. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority on Friday laid down the customs rules, conditions and procedures for setting up duty-free shops at air, sea and land gates under the unified customs law for the Gulf Arab Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This includes determining the requirements, operating licenses and other related regulations relating to the operation of duty free shops.

The cabinet meeting had decided to set up duty free shops as per requirement for those entering and exiting the country through air, sea and land gates. The authority clarified that the necessary rules and regulations have been formulated for the same. This legislation will help to adapt and expand duty free shops for the shopping needs of travellers.
