As a reminder, the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colao, announced that the capital of Catalonia will sever ties with the State of Israel. According to her, the decision will remain so “until the Israeli authorities stop systematically violating the rights of the Palestinian people.”
In the meantime, Colau said that she sent a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu, announcing that she was suspending the Twin Cities alliance with Tel Aviv, as previously demanded by pro-Palestinian organizations. According to her, she wrote in the letter that “I have decided to temporarily suspend relations with the State of Israel and its official institutions, including the twin city agreements. This is until the authorities put an end to the violation of human rights. Israel must fully comply with its obligations under international law and the various UN resolutions.” .
