An unidentified old man (70) died after being hit by an auto-rickshaw in Chittagong’s Lohagara. The accident took place at Zamindarpara area under Lohagara police station on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway around 3 pm on Thursday (June 8).
Eyewitnesses said that a speeding CNG autorickshaw hit the old man hard. He fell on the side of the road and was seriously injured. Locals rescued him and took him to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. The old man died while undergoing treatment there.
Lohagara upazila health complex doctor on duty. Tawfiq Sekander said that an old man seriously injured in a road accident was brought to the emergency department of the hospital. He died 10 minutes after being brought to the hospital. He said that the old man died due to severe head injuries.
SI Mahbub Alam of Dohazari Highway Police Station said that the body of the old man is in Paduastha Upazila Health Complex. Appropriate legal action will be taken in this case. He said that the killer ran away in the auto-rickshaw immediately after the incident.
