The Cuban flavor arrived the day before on Saturday Night Live, one of the most watched entertainment shows on American television with the star Ana de Armas in the place of honor, an invitation that confirms that the Cuban diva is experiencing a peak moment in her career.

Ana was the presenter of this Saturday’s episode, with the classic initial monologue, in which she joked about various topics and revealed part of her past to the audience, and was also in several comic scenes of the show.

His first sentences were in Spanish and then he said with a laugh: I speak English!

During the monologue, for example, he joked about how he learned the language. “I learned English the way everyone who comes to this country learns: by watching Friends.”

Who would have thought that the best tutor would be Chandler Bing? And look at me now, could it be better in English? He said, alluding to the style of the character in the series.

The artist announced to her fans that she is a few weeks away from receiving US citizenship, something that will change her life after living in Spain for years and then moving to Hollywood to continue her acting career.

Ana de Armas left Cuba with barely $200 in her pockets, as she has recounted on multiple occasions, but life and her talent have made her an indispensable part of today’s cinematography, even with an Oscar nomination for her role in the tape Blonde, where she played the late Marilyn Monroe.

“This has been a magical year,” said the actress, highlighting the nomination and citizenship. In addition, she explained that she not only does it for work, but because since she arrived in the United States, she felt welcomed by her coworkers.

“I am proud to become a citizen because when I moved here everyone was very welcoming to me,” she said.

Ana told several anecdotes from her first auditions in the United States, noting that she did not know very well what she was saying because she did not know the local language. In addition, she confessed that she got a big surprise thanks to the kindness of the experienced Robert De Niro when she had her first chance on the big screen.

The Cuban said that in “Hands of Stone,” her first film in the northern country, De Niro told her that he might visit Cuba and that if it came true, he would say hello to his family, something he did shortly after.

“I completely forgot, and suddenly one day I received a phone call from my father. He was hysterical ”. Ana asked her what was wrong and her parent replied that “Robert De Niro just came to visit me at work.” She commented on the show that this was a very kind gesture and she said she was lucky to work with so many actors who support her.
