St‌vanger (Norway): Indian legend and former world champion Viswanathan Anand has emerged victorious in the big fight at the Norwegian Chess Championship.

Anand knocked out world number one and current world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway. The Indian retained the number one position in points. The fifth round of the classical section ended in a sudden death (Amagedon).

This is the second time Anand has beaten Carlson. The fifth-round match ended in a draw after 40 moves, with Sudden Death coming in as a tie-breaker. 52-year-old Anand has come out with moves reminiscent of the golden age.
