The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) announced this Thursday, the 23rd, a list of 347 Brazilian cities, including 47 municipalities in Goiás, which cell phone operators will be able to exploit the 5G signal. In all, about 19.5 million people can have the service as of next Monday, the 27th.
Among the nearly 350 cities that make the list, only 22 have a population of over 200,000 inhabitants. While another 111 municipalities have between 30 and 100 thousand people. And more than half of the places on the list released by Anatel have less than 30,000 residents.
According to the agency, operators that acquire lots in the 3.5 GHz band will be able to request the licensing and activation of 5G stations in such municipalities. So far, Brazil has 487 cities with the service released, reaching about 86 million Brazilians.
However, just being on the list does not mean that the municipality will have the 5G signal immediately available. The provision of the service still depends on the plans of the cellular operators, and each company has an individual plan to provide the service. It is also necessary to highlight that it is necessary to have cell phones compatible with the technology.
