The arduous and inclusive work carried out by the branch of the National Association of the Blind (ANCI) in the Artemisa province during the last year made this territory deserve the venue of the central act for the 48th anniversary of the organization, a date that was celebrated with a part of the affiliates of the province.
Caridad Pérez Ramos, Boris Rabeiro, Fernando González Castillo, Juan Domingo Palacios Andarcio and Gilda Guimeras Parejas were awarded the July 19 medal, which recognizes the more than 20 years of permanence in the ANCI or a decade of work by people who have supported individuals with visual disabilities.
Julia Gastón Chacón, national vice president of the ANCI, explained that the activism of the Artemisa associates made a difference during the last anniversary and they accumulated the necessary requirements to win the emulation established by that sector.
The vice president also read the resolution that accredits Carlos Miguel Lorenzo Fuentes, ANCI rehabilitator par excellence, and Gilda Guimeras Parejas, with the status of National Vanguard for work on social inclusion and the elderly, respectively.
The appointment served to highlight the work of the provinces of Pinar del Río, Villa Clara, Havana, Cienfuegos, Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba and of various agencies and organizations that facilitate the work of the ANCI in the territory of Artemisa.
The central words of the act were given by Jorge Luis Cala Ledesma, president of the ANCI National Council, who stated that the premise of the organization is to guarantee the exercise of the rights of the blind and visually impaired in society.
“Making visible how much we have done and where the main strengths of the ANCI are are daily tasks with associates or not. In recent times, the cooperation achieved with international organizations and national support in the development of legislative programs with a more inclusive nuance are presumable; in addition to the attention to our affiliates”, said Cala Ledesma.
The Jardines de Artemisa room, of the Casa de la Música, was the setting for awarding medals and gifts to those present and celebrating with performances by Boris Rabeiro and instrumentalist Rosa Alexandra Pérez González an anniversary full of congratulations and challenges.
