During excavations in Derbent, plates were found that were presumably used by the khan’s court.

As reported by Day.Az, the head of the city, Akhmed Kuliyev, announced this on his Telegram channel on August 15.

“Interesting exhibits from the 17th century have already been found – Chinese, Persian and local plates. As scientists assume, they could have been used for the needs of the khan’s court,” Kuliev shared the find.

Archaeological excavations have been underway in Derbent on the territory of the ancient fortress of Naryn-Kala for several months, starting in June. A team of scientists led by Vladimir Koval, head of the medieval archaeology department at the Russian Academy of Sciences, is actively exploring the territory around the structure, which was erected in the 6th-17th centuries.

The head of the press service of the Derbent city administration, Telman Radzhabov, also suggests that the plates found during the excavations could have been used by Fatali Khan, who was the ruler of the Quba Khanate in 1758-1789.

It should be noted that an ancient burial site with artifacts was recently discovered in Mongolia.
