And Just Like That…, the sequel series to the iconic Sex and the City, is set to conclude after its third season. Creator Michael Patrick King announced the show’s end on August 1, just ahead of its two-part season finale.

King shared the news in a statement on the show’s social media, stating, “And just like that … the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end.” He added that while writing the final episode of the third season, it became clear that it was a fitting place to stop.

Sarah Jessica Parker also paid tribute to her character, Carrie Bradshaw, on Instagram. She reflected on Bradshaw’s journey, noting that the character has experienced “shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus.” Parker also expressed her appreciation for her co-stars and new additions to the series, calling Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte “never better friends” and Seema and LTW “most divine new connections.”

King elaborated on the decision, explaining that he, Parker, HBO CEO Casey Bloys, and HBO Max head of originals Sarah Aubrey “decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale.” The original series order was extended from 10 episodes to 12 to accommodate this. He noted that they delayed the announcement to ensure the season’s enjoyment wasn’t overshadowed by the “final” word. King expressed gratitude to the viewers for embracing the characters over the years.

While this chapter closes, the characters’ presence is unlikely to fade. Che Diaz, for instance, might still appear on The Gilded Age. Given the original series’ success, which spawned two films and now this sequel, it’s plausible that Carrie Bradshaw could reappear in future projects, perhaps even in a novel rather than as the author.
