25 branch organizations from the Agriculture Sector demand the immediate release of Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev.
Their position is spelled out in a statement sent to acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, President Rumen Radev and the media.
According to farmers, Vatev led the sector to liquidation and total ruin.
No minister of agriculture has ever seen such chaos. Sometimes we felt like we were on autopilot, but we never felt like “flying without a motor” like in the last year
happenedthe statement says.
A little earlier, Glavchev also announced that he intends to release Vatev and replace him with Georgi Takhov, who is currently the executive director of the State Fund for Agriculture.
In his proposal to President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Glavchev cites as reasons for the change failure to cope with official duties, as a result of which tension and dissatisfaction in the agrarian sector continue, without reaching the necessary legislative and administrative decisions with the necessary financial security, such as Ukrainian aid for farmers for 2024 and the still unlaunched campaign on direct payments, which creates serious difficulties in the sector.
It is the money for the Ukrainian aid that is one of the reasons why the branch organizations insist that Vatev be removed from his post.
As other reasons they state: It failed to provide a normal working environment for the sector, it deliberately opposed and divided the branches, by
continues to tolerate the comfortable, does not ensure and does not assist in ensuring a normal working environment in the organized meetings with Premiere in
in connection with the demands of the protesters, lack of pledged funds to support the Ukrainian
aid in the 2024 budget, and subsequently, after the organized protest actions, signed an Agreement with a part of the industry, without the participation and consent of the majority of the protesting industry, which harmed the entire Southwest
Bulgaria by depriving them of support under the so-called Ukrainian aid (lack of support for oat, rye, millet, tertical crops; support for horses), the inadequate policy related to the import of
agricultural products from Ukraine, lack of prevention and control in relation to the diseases of
animals, the reduced rates of subsidies and almost imperceptible, cosmetic changes in the Strategic Plan proposed to the EC, despite the numerous opinions and proposals for changes sent by the industry. So is the desired overall
revision of the Strategic Plan did not occur. Extremely difficult situation and destruction of the “Milk” sector in cattle breeding – reduction of milk cows by 16.7%, according to a report by the Ministry of Health.
Swe read that it is IMPERATIVE that the post be taken over by an adequate person, professional and sympathetic to the problems of the sector. Resignation is for strong people. People who are aware of their actions, realize that they are doing harm, not good, and retire with dignity. He didn’t even do that.
It is our plea that you stop this agony for the entire sector!!!the farmers also write.
