100 days before the end of his administration, the total rehabilitation of Metro Line 1 was not contemplated for the end of the government head’s term, Marti Batres, and there is still no definite reopening date.

Accompanied by local cabinet secretaries, the capital’s leader presented his latest government plan on July 1, consisting of 50 tasks for the last 100 days of his administration.

The list includes the completion of works at the Pantitlán station on Metro Line 9, as well as works on Cablebús Line 3 and the El Insurgente Interurban Train. However, the rehabilitation of the second section of Metro Line 1, closed since November 2023 for maintenance work, was not included in the list.

“We want the works on Metro Line 1 to be completed before the end of this administration, so that we can celebrate that the entire Line 1 has been modernized and rehabilitated,” he said in November after his fourth monthly activity report.

Regarding Line 9, the Secretary of Public Works and Services, Jesús Esteva Medina, announced that the civil works will be completed this week.

“The civil works, that is, what corresponds to the Ministry of Public Works, will be completed this week. All the beams are already there, the slabs are already there… this week we must be handing them over to the Metro and now it will be the Metro that has to do the reinstallation of all the electro-mechanical work, the replacement of the wiring… we are very happy to finish that work,” he explained to the media.
