The ambassador of the Palestinian Authority in Greece, Yussef Dorkhom, also had a meeting with the Prefectural Committee of Ioannina of PASOK – KINAL, following his initiative.
The ambassador and his entourage were welcomed by the secretary of NE Ioannina Vassilis Gardikos, noting that PASOK has always been and is in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their claims, recalling the initiatives of Andreas Papandreou, with Minister of Foreign Affairs Karolos Papoulias for a peaceful resolution of Palestinian issue.
“Israel, like any state, has a right to self-defense. It has no right, however, to blindly attack civilians, to mass liquidate populations”, stressed Mr. Gardikos, pointing out that our country must have a leading role in the diplomatic resolution of issues and peace in the region.
For his part, Ambassador Yussef Dorkhom, after making special reference to PASOK and its founder Andreas Papandreou, linking him to Yasser Arafat and his support for the struggles of the Palestinian people, described the dramatic situations in Gaza and gave information about the dead as well as those trapped without humanitarian aid.
The ambassador of the Palestinian Authority stated that the struggle of the Palestinians is liberating, he emphasized that Palestine must be recognized as a state and is represented by the PLO and Mahmoud Abbas, while he made special reference to the propaganda carried out by the media and said that the truth it is quite different, describing the Israeli military’s aggression against civilians.
He asked, in voice and in action, for the political forces of Greece to help open humanitarian corridors, so that humanitarian aid can immediately reach civilians, and, in closing, he defended the two-state solution in accordance with the resolution of O.H. .E.
For its part, NE Ioannina PASOK – Movement for Change pledged to fight for an immediate ceasefire in accordance with the UN resolution and to defend human values.
