After the formation of the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government in Andhra Pradesh, he carried out various action plans. In that regard, it was decided to create three capitals with the aim of achieving equal development in all parts of the state. Accordingly, the Assembly will function in Amravati in the heart of Andhra Pradesh. The High Court will be set up in Kurnool. It was planned to shift the General Secretariat and the Governor’s House to Visakhapatnam.

Despite the Jagan Mohan Reddy government claiming that the 3 Capitals Project Implementation Bill has been introduced with a view to achieving balanced development, there has been strong opposition from both the Opposition and the peasantry. Several petitions had also been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision.

The Andhra Pradesh government today filed an affidavit in the High Court, pending a hearing on the petitions. In it, the Andhra Pradesh government has said that the Decentralization and Inclusive Development Bill, 2020, will be withdrawn from all the disputed areas.
