jpnn.comMAKASSAR – Political observer from Makassar State University (UNM) Muhammad Rhesa assessed that Andi Sulaiman’s highest electability in the South Sulawesi gubernatorial election based on survey results was very rational with what was happening in society.
He conveyed this in response to the release of the Indikator survey institute which showed that Andi Sudirman’s electability level reached 46.3 percent or far surpassed his rival, namely Ramdhan ‘Danny’ Pomanto – who only achieved 9.6 percent.
Meanwhile, 44.1 percent of respondents did not answer or had not yet decided on their choice.
“I think Andi Sudirman’s electability is rational, because he already had a level of popularity as governor and during that time there was relatively no controversy raised in society,” said Rhesa in his statement quoted on Tuesday (10/9).
Rhesa further explained that in psychological theory there is something called confirmation bias theory.
“In theory, if people do not feel they have found a better alternative, then choosing another is considered riskier, so this is what makes people psychologically prefer Andi Sudirman Sulaiman,” he explained.
For information, Indikator also released the results of a survey using the Top of Mind method, and the results showed that Andi Sudirman Sulaiman was in the top position with 12.4 percent, and his rival Danny Pomanto only 3.4 percent.
The respondents of this survey were all Indonesian citizens in South Sulawesi who had the right to vote in the general election, namely those who were 17 years old or older, or were married when the survey was conducted. (mar1/jpnn)
