Andrade El Ídolo set to leave AEW and return to WWE
Reports have been circulating for weeks that Andrade El Ídolo was likely to leave AEW and make his return to WWE when his contract ended. However, it seems that his exit from AEW is happening sooner than expected.
According to a report from Wrestle Purists, Andrade’s AEW exit is expected to happen after Worlds End tonight (Dec. 30), and he could be back with WWE as soon as Monday. A WWE source also confirmed that they are expecting Andrade to join the company imminently.
A follow-up report from Fightful Select revealed that while their WWE sources believed Andrade’s deal wouldn’t be up until the spring, many within AEW expected his deal to be up imminently. They also claimed that Andrade had made it clear at AEW Dynamite that he no longer wanted to be with the company and was planning on leaving. The situation between Andrade and the company has also been described as “less than pleasant”.
Andrade is scheduled to face Miro on tonight’s PPV from Long Island. It remains to be seen if we will see him on Raw’s Day 1 episode in a couple of days.
