Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Romania

by time news

– The brothers were arrested for 24 hours and were handed a European arrest warrant issued by the British authorities. The charge, which goes back to 2012-2015, includes allegations of sexual aggression, says Tate’s PR contact in a statement on Tuesday, reproduced by NTB.

The contact states that an appeals court in Romania’s capital, Bucharest, will issue a ruling on Thursday, and that they are ready to challenge the charges.

The British-American brothers were indicted in June for human trafficking, rape and for having formed a criminal association with the intention of sexually exploiting women in Romania, where they live.

They deny criminal guilt for all matters.

They have previously been imprisoned and under house arrest in Romania, after they were first arrested in December 2022. A Romanian court decided last August to lift the house arrest, and let them move freely in Bucharest.

In November, further restrictions are said to have been lifted, so that the brothers have been able to move freely within Romania’s borders.

Andrew Tate is a former world champion in kickboxing and in recent years has built up several million followers on social media. He is referred to as “the king of toxic masculinity”.

Last summer, he gave his first interview after being released from custody, in which he denied all criminal charges. He also denied that his content in social media has fueled misogynist attitudes.

– It is very upsetting. And the reason it’s outrageous is because it’s not true. I am a good person and I believe that my influence is positive, he said in the interview with the British BBC.
