Andrew Kishore, the popular Bengali singer of the country known as the ‘Playback Emperor’, passed away on July 6, 2020. Today is his fourth death anniversary. On this day, there is no such event to remember him in the music industry of the country. However, a commemoration meeting is being held today in the birth place of Rajshahi organized by Rajshahi Press Club and public leader Ataur Rahman Smriti Parishad.

Andrew Kishore was sent to Singapore on 9 September 2019 due to physical illness. He was diagnosed with cancer on September 18. He was treated there for a few months. Later, when the doctors gave up, he returned to Rajshahi on June 20, 2020. He died on the evening of July 6.

Andrew Kishore has sung more than 15 thousand songs in Bengali films. Some of his most popular songs include – ‘Jivan Kharhi Khai Baki Sakhon’, ‘Hayre Mansoor Rangin Phanus’, ‘Dak Diyachen Dayal Amare’, ‘Amar Sara Deh Kheyo Go Mati’, ‘Amar Bukki Dahal Khane’, ‘Amar Baba Muka Pratham Jedin’. ‘, ‘Bhenche pinjhar meleche dana’, ‘Saabi toh bhaolasha chai’ etc.

Andrew Kishore was born in 1955 in Rajshahi. He spent his childhood and adolescence there. After the independence war of Bangladesh, he was enrolled in the Nazrul, Rabindra, Folk Sangeet and Patriotic Song section of Rajshahi Betar. Her first film song was ‘Achinpurer Rajkumari Nei’ from the film Mail Train (1977). He won his first National Film Award in the category of Best Male Vocalist for the song ‘Hayre Mansoor Ranang Phanus’ from the film ‘Bar Bhal Lok Chila’ (1982). After that, he won the National Film Award seven more times for his songs in the films Surrender (1987), Yamsani (1989), Padma Meghna Yamuna (1991), Kabul (1996), Aaj Gaye Halud (2000), Sajghar (2007) and Ki Jaadu Karila (2008). do Apart from this, he has received numerous awards and honors including Bacchus Award five times and Merrill-Prothom-alo Award twice.
