With Bayer Leverkusen, midfielder Robert Andrich has his sights set on the top positions in the Bundesliga next season.
“International should be our goal,” said the 28-year-old in an Instagram story for his club. “It should be very, very important to us that we build on what we have built up over the past five or six months. I think that can give us courage.”
For that, the team has to be “hungry” and “stay clear-headed,” emphasizes Andrich, who is currently working on his comeback after breaking a metatarsal. “The foot looks good and I feel good. We’re increasing the training more and more and seeing how the foot reacts to it. Then we’ll see when I get back in. I hope relatively soon,” said Andrich, looking at that Team training, which begins on July 10 for Xabi Alonso’s team.
The midfielder left open whether Andrich can be back in the squad for the start of the season in mid-August. “I want to get fit as quickly as possible and get back to the top level,” emphasized the man from Leverkusen, who is doing individual training sessions for the time being. (dpa)
