Out of fear that someone might do his job better, Andy Borg forbids a guest on “Schlager-Spaß” from using his microphone.

Baden-Baden – Since 2018, Andy Borg (63) has been hosting his music show “Schlager-Spaß mit Andy Borg.” Guests include Olaf der Flipper (78), his daughter Pia Malo (42), Monika Martin (62), and Ronny Weiland (49). Alongside these guests, the showmaster also welcomes the band “Die Grubertaler” and an elementary school choir, with whom he plans a small quiz. Since he needs both hands for this, he gives up his microphone – but not without first issuing a ban.

In his “Schlager-Spaß” show: Andy Borg quizzes children about almost forgotten items

“A few days ago, I cleaned out my parents’ cellar and found things that I had a hard time recognizing,” explains Andy Borg to the school choir of the Erich Kästner Grundschule in Limburg. Therefore, the Schlager star proposes a small quiz to the children: “Shall we guess?” The students eagerly agree.

Andy Borg then has a wooden box brought to him by a staff member. Inside are various items that he presents to the children one by one, allowing them to guess. Among these are a drying hood, a carpet beater, and an old copper hot-water bottle. However, for the presentation, the Austrian needs both hands and decides to place his microphone on a table before the quiz.

For Andy Borg’s music show, SWR has invited a variety of different guests again. The Grubertaler, Olaf der Flipper, Monika Martin, Silvio Samoni, Pia Malo, Ronny Weiland, the school choir of Erich Kästner Schule Limburg, i-Düpferl, Musikverein Sinzheim, and Penny McLean visited the Schlager star for the TV recording.

Andy Borg hands his microphone to a “Schlager-Spaß” guest – but with a clear prohibition

“Wait, can I put the microphone there?” he asks the table on his left side. Sitting there are “Die Grubertaler,” whom he apparently does not fully trust. Because before handing them his handheld microphone, he issues a clear prohibition to the band members: “And woe betide you if you sing into it!” The reason behind Andy Borg’s announcement: “It’s always dangerous to give a colleague the microphone,” explains the host. He says his next words a bit quieter: “Then they’ll get engaged.”

This is clearly a joke. No one seems to take offense at the Schlager star’s remark. However, there might be a bit of genuine concern behind it. Just recently, Andy Borg revealed that despite his 63 years, he is not thinking about retiring yet. Sources used: ARD Mediathek/SWR/SR/MDR “Schlager-Spaß mit Andy Borg” (Episode from July 27, 2024)
