With the support of the Institute of Animal Welfare and Public Works, the dog shelter in Cuscatancingo has been completely rebuilt after the July storm.

The Ángeles de la Calle shelter, which was severely damaged by a storm last July, has been completely restored thanks to the joint efforts of the Animal Welfare Institute (IBA) and the Ministry of Public Works. The president of the IBA, Guillermo Hasbún, announced the good news on his social networks, highlighting the significant improvements made to the site.

“We have rebuilt the Ángeles de la Calle shelter with all the necessary adjustments. It now has drinking water, electricity and adequate spaces for dogs. In addition, we have ensured that there is no shortage of food and medicine for their well-being,” Hasbún said.

The shelter, which housed dozens of dogs, was severely damaged when a cedar tree fell on the facility during the storm, killing two animals and leaving the facility in critical condition.

Since the accident, the Animal Welfare Institute has been responsible for the care of the dogs, providing them with medical care, food and performing castration and sterilization procedures.

The shelter’s founder, Oneyda de Hernández, expressed her deep gratitude for the support received. “I thank the Animal Welfare Institute and Guillermo Hasbún for everything they have done for the dogs. They have listened to our needs and improved the conditions of the shelter,” said Oneyda, who also requested additional support to continue caring for the animals.

The shelter is now equipped to provide a better environment for the dogs residing there, and Oneyda is calling on the community to continue to come forward with donations and support, as there are always ongoing needs for the welfare of the animals.
