In the company of the heads of DIF Naucalpan, OAPAS, Public Services and the Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection and Firefighters, the mayor called on residents to, in case the heavy rains continue, not expose themselves to unnecessary risks and to prioritize their safety and that of their families before material goods.

Heidi Storsberg, general director of OAPAS, explained that this river connects with the ‘Los Cuartos’ dam and there are people who live at the height of the dam basin, where “the large amount of water in recent days dragged a lot of garbage from the top of the hills and unfortunately the dam did not have the capacity to regulate so much water, which caused the overflow at the bottom.”

He explained that in coordination with the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) work is being done to clean the channels and ravines “because that causes blockages, the dam below has a natural outlet, when the water rises it overflows through a channel with floodgates that allows it to be emptied more quickly, unfortunately that channel is blocked, so the level of the dam has not been able to be lowered and that is the responsibility of CONAGUA, we will continue working to try to free the drains with vactors and with all the necessary equipment.”

The president of DIF Naucalpan, Cynthia Elizondo Basurto, said that they will be delivering packages with cleaning supplies for their homes that contain products such as bleach, squeegees, rags, soap, hand alcohol, face masks, rags, etc., in addition to food baskets with ingredients that do not require cooking such as water, tuna, cookies, milk, cereal, mayonnaise, vegetable salad, sardines, among others. Other types of support such as mats and diapers are also delivered to people who need them.

He pointed out that yesterday, in the Nueva San Rafael neighborhood, the delivery of aid was carried out in approximately 140 homes, giving priority to the most affected; for this day and the next ones, they will be present in different communities such as Poza Honda, San Rafael Chamapa, Predio Las Colonias, among others.
