He also said that all the Member States of the African Union need a coordinated and decisive response to the challenges associated with the presence of mercenaries.
In that sense, he said that countries need to strengthen their defense capabilities, improve surveillance and accountability mechanisms, and ensure that national legislation and international agreements are implemented “rigorously” to combat the activities of destabilizing elements.
He noted that Angola, as President of the AU Peace and Security Council last July, is committed to being at the forefront resolutely and promoting dialogue, as well as cooperation between member states for effective solutions and find sustainable.
“We are counting on the support and commitment of each of the representatives of the Member States to face this threat together and work towards a safer and more peaceful Africa”, he reiterated.
