Angry Elton is thrown out of “Beat the Star” and wants to know the reason — Film & Series Rolling Stone

“Schlag den Star”, the Saturday evening show on ProSieben, will have a new presenter from June 1st. After eight years, Elton is replaced by Matthias Opdenhövel. However, Elton himself only caught wind of it afterwards, as he now describes on his Instagram account. “To make one thing clear: I am not giving up this wonderful show voluntarily,” the entertainer wrote there on Thursday, April 11th.

Elton is “speechless, angry but above all extremely sad”

On his social media platform, Elton is outraged that he only found out about his “Beat the Star” exit after his management contacted ProSieben. “The station manager at Pro7 didn’t think it was necessary to call me and ask what was going on or to find a solution,” Elton wrote on Instagram. The moderator was “speechless, angry but above all extremely sad. I’m not even granted a farewell show after 23 years with Pro 7.”

ProSieben station boss Hannes Hiller wrote in the station’s official announcement about the change in moderation: “You couldn’t wish for a better handover of the baton. Matthias Opdenhövel returns to his ProSieben beginnings. As a congenial presenter, he once shaped ‘Schlag den Raab’, alternating with Stefan Raab, into the mother of all competition shows on Saturday evenings. I’m really looking forward to this special comeback. Welcome back, dear Matthias.” They didn’t get involved with Elton.

The German television presenter Matthias Opdenhövel left the “Schlag den…” cosmos 13 years ago. From 2006 to 2011 he hosted “Schlag den Raab” and from 2010 also “Schlag den Star”.

Work at RTL is the reason for Elton’s “Beat the Star” ending

Elton cites his work at RTL as the reason for his expulsion. “ProSieben seems to find it too much that I work at RTL. All of a sudden!!!!” Formats such as “Beat the Best” or “Disgrace or Cash in” were first offered to ProSieben. Only after it was said that “they had no money and no broadcasting space” did RTL take action.
