jpnn.com – JAKARTA – As of Monday (26/8) afternoon, the PDI Perjuangan DPP has not yet determined Anies Baswedan as the gubernatorial candidate to be nominated in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.
Andalas University Padang Political Observer Asrinaldi assessed that it was time for Anies Baswedan to become a party cadre in order to obtain maximum political support.
“It is time for him (Anies) to join a party because he has entered the world of politics. We know that our constitution states that in the context of the president, the context of policy and so on, the formal actor is a political party,” said Asrinaldi when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday.
Asrinaldi said that Anies cannot forever act as an independent figure who hopes to be supported by all parties.
Asrinaldi considered that the concept was not very beneficial for the party because Anies did not have a direct connection with the supporting party.
In addition, Anies Baswedan is also considered to only want to “play it safe” by not becoming a cadre.
This was done so that Anies could freely join other parties according to certain political conditions.
“Anies is playing it safe, he wants to be in all groups, but it turns out that in the political dynamics, not all parties are interested in what Anies is trying to offer,” said Asrinaldi.
