Ânima shares close up 4% amid new rumors about São Judas By Reuters

SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – Shares in education company Ânima (BVMF:) soared this Wednesday to their highest level in almost three months, amid news of progress in the potential sale of Universidade São Judas.

Yduqs (BVMF:), owner of Estácio and Ibmec, Cruzeiro do Sul (BVMF:) and the manager Farallon, which bought FMU from Ânima in 2021, would be among those interested in the asset, said the newspaper Valor Econômico this Wednesday -fair. Yduqs reportedly made a non-binding proposal of 850 million reais, but that did not please Ânima, the report added, citing unidentified sources.

Yduqs and Cruzeiro do Sul stated that they do not comment on market rumors. Farallon did not respond to requests for comment.

In a relevant fact, Ânima said that it received non-binding proposals for the acquisition of Universidade São Judas, from strategic and financial investors, but that there is no decision by the company in relation to the offers, nor is it certain that any decision will be taken in this regard.

Ânima shares closed up 4.17%, at 3.75 reais each, after reaching a maximum of 3.91 reais (+8.6%) earlier, the highest intraday level since August 29.

Cruzeiro do Sul shares advanced 0.73% and Yduqs shares, the only education company mentioned by Valor that is part of , fell 1.42%. Ibovespa, the Brazilian stock exchange’s reference index, rose 0.33%.

At the beginning of October, Ânima said that there were no ongoing negotiations for the sale of Universidade São Judas, following news about the matter.
