Talking about the coordination between work and mother’s responsibility, Anita Hassanandani says, ‘Since Aarav is about to turn four, I talk to him and explain that I am going to work. I will return in the evening and he has started understanding. Still I FaceTime him four to five times a day. I make sure that my mother or husband is with him.
Anita said- ‘Mom guilt’ will never go away
See, I felt that this mom guilt will never go away. I may never be mentally ready to leave my child, but I love my career too. I want to take my career forward too. So, when I got such a powerful, parallel lead offer in ‘Suman Indori’, I felt I should take this chance. I should do the work that I love and when Aarav grows up, he will be proud of me that Mama you did well.
Was confused about returning to work
Did Anita miss acting during this break? When asked, she says, ‘It was a mixed feeling. Sometimes I feel that it is good that I am not working, I am able to give full time to my child. Then sometimes I feel that what am I doing with my life, I have to work. Actually, once you become a mother, everything changes. Sometimes I used to feel happy that at least I am at home, but there were many days when I felt that I have to go back to work. So, I did shows in between, then did not do them, because I was also confused about what I should do, but now that Aarav is four years old, I also got the confidence that I can talk to him on FaceTime. If someone scolds him, he can tell me that the nanny said this, so I got the confidence that I can work.’
