Messi is certain to miss Inter Miami’s first two matches in the United States Major League Soccer league.

AFP reported on Wednesday that Inter Miami coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino confirmed the Argentina captain would miss the first two MLS games.

“There will be further tests to determine how serious the condition is,” Martino said.

Messi was withdrawn in the 64th minute after injuring his right leg while winning the ball from Colombian striker Luiz Diaz.

The former Barcelona man is likely to miss Inter Miami’s two games against Toronto FC and Chicago Fire.

In his personal account on Instagram, Messi thanked the support he received after the 2024 Copa America final.

“I’m fine, thank God, and I hope I can be on the pitch again soon,” he wrote.
