50 years have passed since the death of the iconic actress of Italian cinema: Anna Magnani, known to all as “Nannarella”, passed away forever on 26 September 1973. She was born in Rome on 7 March 1908, daughter of a seamstress originally from Fano – Marina Magnani – who, after giving birth to her, entrusted her to the care of her maternal grandmother and emigrated to Alexandria, Egypt, where she met and married a wealthy man (the future actress never met her father). Supported by her grandmother Anna Magnani, she began studying the piano very early and subsequently enrolled at the Liceo Musicale Santa Cecilia, where she remained for two years. Having returned to Rome after a trip to Alexandria in Egypt, she decided to abandon the study of music and turned towards acting.
