Synchronized Swimming: More Than Just Underwater Ballet
Synchronized swimming, now known as artistic swimming, is more than just underwater ballet. Anna-Maria and Eirini-Marina Alexandri, Austrian sisters, demonstrate this with their breathtaking technique, graceful posture, and remarkable breath-holding abilities. Despite their fourth-place finish at the Olympics, their performance reveals their immense talent.
The Alexandri sisters embody the Austrian “American Dream,” having left Greece in 2011 to pursue their dreams. With the guidance of coach Albena Mladenova, they have achieved remarkable success, claiming gold at the European Championships and the 2023 World Championship.
At the Paris Aquatics Center, the Alexandris dedicated themselves to realizing their potential. They meticulously restyled their program and were rewarded with the classic “We Will Rock You” by Queen accompanying their technical routine. Their routines, titled “Condor” and ”Karate,” showcased their impressive mix of difficulty, acrobatics, and exceptional breath-holding skills.
