The husband of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (41, Greens) has given up his job in favor of her political career.
Daniel Holefleisch (48) has been “no longer active for the Deutsche Post DHL Group since July 2021,” a company spokesman confirmed to the magazine “Bunte”.
Baerbock had already said before the general election: If she accepted a government office, it would be “very clear that my husband would not be able to continue his work there”.
The couple has been married since 2007 and has two daughters (6 and 11). Holefleisch has advised and supported his wife since the beginning of her career.
In addition to Robert Habeck (52), Baerbock is currently also the chairman of the Greens. Because both have taken over government offices, they have to give up their party offices. The Greens elect a new dual leadership at a party congress at the end of January.
