“Today we are here playing softball because it is the response we can give to the news of the postponement of our national tournament. The terrain and the passion we feel for this sport would not forgive us if we abandoned them at a time as hard as this,” league head Annel Martínez told this journalist.
“It’s true that I cried when I found out. They were tears of discouragement and many mixed emotions, because there were many days of sacrifice so that this tournament could take place with the elegance that Cuban journalists deserve,” he added.
Martínez, who is also the player-director of the team that represents the capital, thanked the authorities of Holguín for the great effort and effort they put into organizing this event, and took the opportunity to call on all journalists in the country.
“Unfortunately the tournament was suspended for reasons beyond our control, but I hope that it can be held at some point. We are eager to meet again and what we cannot do is lose motivation and break our will. We are going to continue playing softball.
“We urge all teams to continue trusting the presidency of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (Upec) and the league. As we have done until now, we will not rest until our national championship can be held,” he said.
