The rally is going on from 11 am on Saturday (September 7) under the banner of ’35 Aspirant General Students’. The job aspirants warned that they will not leave Shahbagh if their demands are not met. They will not leave the road unless the government representative comes. They also demanded a clear assurance that the age limit for employment should be 35 years.

The protesters were at Shahbag intersection till 6:15 pm on Saturday. Vehicular traffic stopped around Shahbagh intersection due to blocking the road. This caused massive traffic jams on all the surrounding roads. People who are out on the streets for various jobs are suffering.

The protestors can be heard chanting slogans like ‘age not merit, merit merit’, ‘no more delay, give notice now’, ‘break the chain of 35’.

Activists say that in many countries around the world, the age limit for entry into employment is at least 35 years. In some countries, the age limit is open. Many countries, including India, have already made the minimum age for entry into employment 35 years. But Bangladesh has 30 years. The agitators demanded to make this age limit 35 years.
