The Prime Minister appointed by the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, agreed to establish a free zone in the port of Sirte, given its commercial importance.

Hammad announced during an expanded meeting held in the city of Sirte today that the government pays great attention to the city and that it will meet all requests submitted by those concerned with reconstruction and development.

In turn, the Director General of the Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belkacem Haftar, confirmed during the meeting that the maintenance of Sirte airport and port will begin, the maintenance and development of government headquarters, hospitals and schools, the establishment of public lighting networks, paving roads, connecting water networks, rehabilitating sewage networks, and cleaning work in the city of Sirte.

During the meeting, Hammad discussed with those concerned all the developments and problems that the city is suffering from, and was briefed on the progress of the work of the service and security agencies and the departments and offices affiliated with the government.

According to Hammad, the projects do not target a specific city, but rather are for the entire Libyan territory, as many packages of service projects will be launched throughout Libya, stressing that all demands will be met, most notably the treatment of oncology patients.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee, Hatem Al-Araibi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Abu Bakr Al-Zawi, officials of the service, security and health sectors, and notables and sheikhs of the city of Sirte.
