/ The coach of the Iraqi handball team announced the lineup of the men’s national team in preparation for the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup in mid-January in Bahrain.

A member of the media office, Hossam Abdel Reda, told Agency that the team’s coach, Dhafer Sahib, revealed the squad that will represent the team in the tournament. The list consisted of the players: Ahmed Makki, Muntazar Qasim, Zain Al-Abidin Muhammad, Badr al-Din Hamoudi, Wael Hafez, Prince Ali, Majed Abdel-Rida, and Ahmed Tariq. And Mustafa Bakri, Jassim Ghassab Muhammad, Ali Abdul Redha, Muhammad Ali, Mustafa Muhammad, Mujtaba Bassem, Sajjad Talib, Ali Abdul Karim, Ahmed Khaled Adnan, Ashraf Moayed, and Ahmed Malik.

Abdel Reda explained that two players suddenly apologized for joining the national team, namely Ali Adnan due to injury and Ali Muhammad Al-Silawi due to family ties, indicating that the coach compensated for their absence with the Popular Mobilization Forces player Ashraf Moayed.

He pointed out that Al-Ittihad, in coordination with the coach, has scheduled a short training camp before the tournament in Bahrain for the period from 12-16 next January, including two friendly matches against the Bahrain national team.

He added that the AFC held a draw for the Asian Qualifying Championship and our team fell into the third group, which includes Japan, Saudi Arabia and India.

He pointed out that the team will continue its training in Baghdad until the start of its next camp in Bahrain.

The Iraqi Federation named coach Dhafer Sahib after Egyptian coach Moamen Sharif apologized for continuing the journey leading the national team.
