Pope Francis invited the new rector of the Lateran University, Bishop Alfonso V. Amarante, to announce the Gospel with truth and joy to strengthen the institution and its role in contemporary society.

In academic and administrative planning, the Holy Father urges taking advantage of the signs of the times and collaborating with the Pontifical Institutes associated with the University. The participation of the competent university bodies will be essential to support the changes required in “didactics” and “management”.

The Pontiff also mentions the creation of the Superior Coordination Council through a Rescript of August 21, 2021. The Council will be enriched by the incorporation of qualified figures from the Roman Curia and the university world, strengthening the link between the Lateran University and the Headquarters. apostolic.

The process will begin on September 12 and the University is expected to actively participate in it.
